GEARGUNS: Tank Offensive is a spectacular looking tank combat game that sees you rolling out and blasting all manner of massive Starship Troopers-esque alien bugs.
This may be a tank game, but it’s certainly no stuffy tank simulator, GEARGUNS: Tank Offensive is all about fast paced vehicular combat and spectacle. This ethos is perfectly envisioned in the opening scene, in which you roll a tank out of a warplane and parachute it onto the battlefield in the middle of an alien invasion.
Once you’re behind the controls of the tank, GEARGUNS: Tank Offensive feels and plays a little like Earth Defence Force – like a B-movie brought to life, revelling in it’s cheesiness and over the top alien blasting silliness. Massive alien structures loom over the half demolished city as you manoeuvre your way though blasting any bugs foolish enough to get in your way.
It’s still early in development and does have a few flaws – it could do with a little more direction and better feedback from your weaponry. But overall GEARGUNS: Tank Offensiveis a very enjoyable thrill ride, with a satisfyingly ridiculous B-movie premise and big, beautiful bombastic action.
