30XX is a roguelite action platforming love letter to the classic Mega Man X games, with two playable characters, stackable upgrades and challenging procedurally generated levels with plenty of replayability.
Drawing inspiration from Mega Man X, Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon and Dead Cells, 30XX is essentially a Mega Man game you can play forever. It’s a roguelite action platformer with procedurally generated levels that make each playthrough unique. The current build contains two playable levels, complete with boss fights. There are two playable characters (Ace and Nina) each with very different playstyles and upgrade paths.
For the most part 30XX’s procedurally generated levels are very well constructed and manage to add plenty of randomized variety while still allowing for challenging set pieces, bosses and mid-bosses. As you progress in each run you can unlock a variety of stackable upgrades and you can also earn currency that you can use to unlock permanent upgrades for both characters.
It’s still early in development, but 30XX shows a lot of promise. If you’re a fan of the Mega Man X games then there’s a lot to like (in fact at times it looks so similar that Capcom’s lawyers may be getting twitchy), and the roguelite elements give the game plenty of replayability. Highly recommended.
