Acrolyte is a 2D action-platformer where you awaken from dying slumber to pursue revenge against ancient forces beyond comprehension across vast, mysterious alien landscapes.
Playing a little like the 90’s classic Abuse,in Acrolyte you explore the Azure Valley of planet Eyra-31B, a vast mountain range with expansive cave networks and abandoned alien ruins. After your crew is executed following a military investigation into an anomalous artifact, you survive the station’s crash into the planet. Now you must uncover the secrets of a lost civilization while collecting exotic weapons and mobility upgrades.
Acrolyte features 360-degree free-aim, which delivers fast-paced precise combat as you slide, launch, and fly through caverns using intricate, chainable mobility techniques. The world design is fondly reminiscent of Metroid, with a vast map with non-linear exploration and equipment which allows you to access new areas. It could maybe do with a little more visual variety within the areas, but it’s a lot of fun and the 360-degree free-aim works very well. After a little time with it there’s a good chance you’ll become an acolyte of Acrolyte.
