Anno 1800 is Ubisoft’s latest installment of the long running Anno franchise, this time bringing its brand of city building, real time strategy and naval warfare to the 19th century
Set within the dawn of the industrial age, Anno 1800’s Naval RTS sees you exploring the world, building massive cities, planning efficient logistic networks and using diplomacy, trade and warfare to dominate your opponents. It promises to deliver a classic Anno gameplay experience, with a story based campaign mode, a highly customisable campaign mode and online multiplayer. It also features individual AI opponents, randomly generated maps, multi-session gameplay and a setting that leans into historical elements such as the industrial revolutions, social changes and the Imperial empires.
It’s a great looking game and development of Anno 1800 has been very community focused, with the devs responding to feedback via the official website on everything from rebalancing the late game content to voting on the ship models. It’s a very open developmental process that looks set to give fans of the series a chance to shape the development of Anno 1800 from the ground up (so if players end up not liking it then they only have themselves to blame!)
