Arietta of Spirits is a beautifully animated narrative driven action RPG adventure where a young girl unravels the mysteries of the spirit realm.
In Arietta of Spirits you follow the adventure of Arietta, a 13 year old girl who has gone for a family vacation to her grandmother’s log cabin on a remote island. Her grandmother passed away about a year ago and the cabin has remained empty since then so there’s a little tidying up to doubt it’s a charming and idyllic woodland location to have a vacation. However, it soon turns out that there’s more to this place than meets the eye, and Arietta finds herself talking to spirits, battling monsters and discovering the dark secrets of the spirit realm.
Gameplay-wise, Arietta of Spirits plays quite similarly to the top-down Zelda games, with you exploring the world, completing quests and battling enemies in real-time. It’s got a far more engaging story than the Zelda games though, with interesting characters, a rich lore and great writing (aside from the occasional translation error).
The current Beta build takes around an hour to play through and really impresses with its gorgeous pixel art animation, fun Zelda-esque gameplay and well crafted narrative. Arietta of Spirits has a very interesting lore and vibrant wolds that you’ll be dying to see more of. Highly recommended.
