Artificial Death – Alpha Demo

Artificial Death features a run fusion of deck building and robot warfare which sees you building robots from a randomly selected handful of parts and then attempting to smash your opponent to pieces in the arena.

Playable in single player against AI opponents or local multiplayer, Artificial Death allows you to build and fight robots in fast paced 1v1 matches. Building your robot is easy – you just select a base, body, special ability and two side mounted weapons from a random selection of parts cards that are dealt to you. There’s an eclectic mix of robot parts, ranging from black holes to Nintendo Switches, all of which have their own unique stats and will help contribute to what your robot ends up being called.

Once you’ve built your fighting robot you then take to the arena to do battle against your opponent. The combat is fast paced and fun, with you using an arcadey twin-stick control scheme to move and attack your opponent. Depending on your weaponry you’ll want to adopt different tactics (ranged or up close and personal) and it’s always worthwhile grabbing some of the power-ups that randomly drop into the arena.

The current build of Artificial Death features a wide selection of randomly selected robot parts and two arenas to do battle in. This will no doubt get expanded in future builds and you’ll hopefully be able to customize your ‘deck’ of robot parts, but it’s already great fun. The CRT-style visual filter, vibrant colors and chunky toy-like robot parts give the game a great sense of style and the build n’ battle gameplay is excellent. Some of the robots you build can look so great it’s almost a shame to send them into battle!
