Astronite is a delightful 1-bit styled metroidvania adventure where a brave adventurer returns to his home planet to rid it of the alien monsters that caused his people to evacuate it many years ago.
In Astronite you are an explorer who has set out on a mission to liberate his home planet from the alien monsters that invaded it. Before your people left the planet they discovered a mysterious entity that lived in the core of it. They were never capable of successfully solving its riddle and so it unleashed the army of monsters that overran the planet and caused your people to flee. Now it’s time for you to explore, battle monsters, reach the core and hopefully put an end to its reign of terror.
Astronite plays like a classic Metroid style Sci-Fi metroidvania, with areas gated off by equipment, non-linear level design and big boss battles to deal with. The demo takes around 15 minutes to play though and allows you to explore a bit of the planet and battle the first boss.
It’s shaping up to be an excellent little metroidvania adventure with an interesting world to explore, challenging boss fights and superb 1bit styled pixel art visuals. It feels like it will offer quite a condensed world with relatively few filler areas, a good amount of narrative and interesting new discoveries at regular intervals. A classic metroidvania with lots of retro charm.
