b00tl3g kr3w is a fun little oddity in which you join a 90’s Warez crew who crack, play and share popular console game ROMs such as Sonic the Hedgehog and The Legend of Zelda, but with some unfortunate side effects of your cracking!
b00tl3g kr3w is played entirely through a retro Windows 3.1 style desktop. Once booted up, you log into your IRC client to chat with your ROM cracking group, download new ROMs that they’ve just cracked, upload them to your server, then use your ‘BegaBiv emulator’ to test them out.
The ROMs on offer are based on popular console games such as Sonic the Hedgehog, The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Brothers. Your crew have done a great job of cracking them, but there are a few ‘minor’ bugs that can seriously affect the gameplay! Bugs range from games being totally unplayable to physics based hilarity as levels fall to pieces around you.
It’s a very funny game that offers a wonderfully witty slice of bootlegging nostalgia as you play your way through some hilariously broken takes on classic games. If you’ve ever downloaded a dodgy ROM, we highly recommend checking out the buggy warez of b00tl3g kr3w!
