Back in the Swamp is an atmospheric sci-fi point-and-click adventure set in a retro-futuristic wasteland dominated by giant insects and derelict robots.
In Back in the Swamp you have to explore, solve puzzles and fight for survival after your helicopter crashes in a desolate post-apocalyptic land. The game emphasizes methodical exploration and puzzle-solving through item collection and combination mechanics. Players must carefully observe their surroundings, guided by cursor animations that reveal hidden interactive elements and sketched illustrations showing potential actions.
Environmental storytelling takes center stage and each location rewards patient investigation, with dropped items and combined objects unlocking new areas and advancing the wordless narrative. Hand-drawn sketches also help build out the story, creating an immersive experience free from text or dialogue.
The Back in the Swamp demo takes around 10 minutes to play through and really impresses with its intuitive game design and interesting post-apocalyptic world. It’s a fascinating experience that allows the story to emerge from silence, observation, and the player’s own imagination in this haunting post-apocalyptic landscape. Highly recommended.
