Besmirch is a FAITH inspired pixel art farming survival horror game where the apocalypse comes to a strange little town on the brink of starvation.
In Besmirch you have recently been employed to work the farm for the greedy owner in a small starving town. The farmland is in disrepair so you’ll need to clear any debris, hoe the land, plant seeds, water them and harvest them.
The cash you earn from selling your crops can be used to buy new seeds, but it can also be used to buy weapons, clothing, equipment and religious items, which can be handy for keeping monsters at bay. Initially you’ll only encounter monsters in dungeons, but when the apocalypse comes they begin to roam above ground too. You’ll also need to make sure you have enough supplies to survive the three days of darkness where you hole yourself up in your cabin.
The current build of Besmirch has a few rough edges/bugs, but it’s a very promising game. The town is an intriguing place full of interesting things to discover, the pixel art is fantastic and it gets pretty tense when the darkness rolls in. You get invested in the town, and your farm’s the only thing standing between its doom. Highly recommended.
