Beyond the Thaw is a very tense little narrative driven adventure which sees you attempting to stay warm and escape from shadowy wolves after your light aircraft crashes in an icy tundra.
Created for the 2020 Unreal Spring Jam, in Beyond the Thaw you take on the role of a pilot who has just crashed his plane in a snowy wilderness. You need to get back home to your family, but it’s bitterly cold and there are bloodthirsty wolves prowling about in the darkness. You’ll need to stay clear of the wolves and stay close to heat sources if you want to get home to your family.
Taking around 10 minutes to play through, Beyond the Thaw really impresses with its beautiful visuals and tense atmosphere. It feels like a horror game at times as the wolves stalk you through the snow, but it is ultimately quite an uplifting experience and surviving in a frostbitten tundra has never looked so pretty.
