Blastius is a beautifully animated mouse-controlled pixel art shoot-em up where your ship’s piloting system has been severely damaged so you can only move by dashing in the direction you’re facing.
Created for the GMTK Game Jam 2020, in Blastius you control your spaceship entirely with the mouse. You aim your ship with the pointer, press LMB to fire and RMB to dash. The dash is particularly handy as not only is it your only form of propulsion, but you can use it to dodge attacks and do heavy damage to enemies.
It doesn’t take too long to play through Blastius’ three short levels, but they’re a lot of fun and the huge boss fights are particularly impressive. The mouse-based control system works well and the pixel art animation is superb. It’d be nice to see it expanded on as it’s a novel concept and it’d be great to see more of those bosses!

This game rulz so hard! The graphics remind me of downwell and other devolver digital games. Hollow Knight started as the hungry knight in a game jam, my favorite game ever, and that version sucked! This rulz already! I can’t wait to see what it becomes!!!!!
