Bravery Network Online is a wonderfully weird comic book styled turn-based battle RPG where you manage a team of immortal fighters as they do battle in a competitive fighting league.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer during the closed Beta Sign Up, Bravery Network Online is a beautifully animated and delightfully strange turn-based tactical RPG set in a distant future where technology has made scarcity a thing of the past and humans fight for fun in an ultimate sport called Bravery. You take on the role of a coach and manage a team of five fighters as they compete in battles, both in single-player and against online opponents.
During battles you can tag in different characters, each with their own unique abilities and stats. There are three different types of damage that can be done by attacks so it’s important to select the right characters that have the defensive attributes to handle those attacks. There are also a lot of other tactical intricacies to the combat to wrap your head around, but thankfully the game teaches you them in an easily understandable and entertaining way.
The combat system has plenty of depth and allows for some satisfyingly epic battles, but it’s the characters, the humor and the art style that really makes you fall in love with Bravery Network Online. Each character has a very unique personality and the writing is full of witty humor and silly throwaway gags (lots of which are directed at your character’s grotesque face!). A superbly silly turn-based tactical RPG that delivers plenty of tactical depth without taking itself too seriously. Highly recommended.
