Civil is an ambitious massively multiplayer online life simulation game where your aim is to get rich – either by being a good citizen or through more nefarious means.
In Civil players are given a vast open world and complete freedom to choose how they want to play the game. It seems a little like GTA online, but with more life simulation, social and strategy elements and a little less chaos.
You can choose to be a model citizen, with you enjoying a relaxed lifestyle where you hang out with friends, trade items, decorate your house and pursue a career. Being a good citizen offers a more sedentary and chilled out experience, but if you want to live life on the edge then you can be evil. Being evil means you can no longer accept “good guy”jobs, but gives you freedom to commit crimes, kill innocent players, rob banks and even glitch the game.
Living a life of crime certainly seems like the most action packed and fun route to take, but perhaps there’s something to be said for slowing down, being a good person and enjoying a peaceful virtual life. It is a very ambitious project, which does run the risk of being a jack of all trades but master of none, but if devs do manage to create a functioning virtual civilisation with a little more depth and more reasons to be a good citizen than in GTA then it could be great.
