Curved Space is a wonderfully disorientating twin-stick shooter that maps 2D arcade gameplay to mind-bending 3D structures as you blast your way through hordes of giant robot spiders.
Currently in development by Only By Midnight, Curved Space is a very unique arcade shooter where you skim around the surfaces of physics-defying battlefields in space and blast robotic spiders and cosmic monsters.
In the game you take on the role of a multidimensional energy-miner/spider-hunter who harvests energy from robotic spiders. You’re seriously outnumbered, but you have an agile little hovership that sticks to the surface to the surface of the three dimensional battlefields and you have a lot of weapons and handy tricks up your sleeve.
The closest thing the core gameplay of Curved Space could be compared to is Super Stardust HD, but there’s a lot more going on here. Most notably the battlefields aren’t circular planets – instead they’re mind-bending structures, like mobius strips and impossible donuts. There’s a wide assortment of weaponry you can pick up, and you can also tether enemies to harvesters to help charge up your special attack. The enemies come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, including some massive bosses that will really test your shooting skills.
It’s a very impressive game that brings spectacle and lots of interesting new ideas to the classic twin-stick arcade shooter genre. Sign up for the beta to join in the robo-bug blasting fun!
