Darkenstein 3D is a Wolfenstein and DOOM inspired boomer shooter that hurls players into a bullet-soaked rescue mission as a hobo attempts to rescue his dog from Nazis.
In Darkenstein 3D you take on the role of an American drifter who rampages through WWII Nazi Germany with one goal: saving his kidnapped dog. It’s an old school boomer shooter that demands skill, with no cover systems or aim assists, just pure dodging, strafing, and precision shooting with big beefy guns. As well as a wide range of weapons, you can also befriend a rat that you can throw at enemies to distract them.
It’s very much inspired by classic 90s shooters (Return to Castle Wolfenstein especially) and it blends nazi-blasting carnage, zombies, aliens, explosive physics, secrets and plenty of humor. The guns feel great (especially the shotgun), there’s a nice variety in level design and the fully voiced dialogue of the hobo is very entertaining. A good old fashioned boomer shooter that knows how to have fun. Highly recommended.
