Darkest Nightmare is a very cool looking faux-3D first person spellcasting action-horror game coming to iOS and Android in which you trace different spell patterns to vanquish a wide selection of freaky monsters.
Currently in development by Popsicle Games, creators of Darkest Light and Mighty Alpha Droid, Darkest Nightmare is a dark fantasy themed spellcasting action game in which you play the sole survivor of a massacre in a magical academy. You set out on a quest that takes you to dangerous dungeons, graveyards and caves as you attempt to gather knowledge that will help you rebuild the academy and defeat the demonic forces that now threaten the world.
The setting and atmosphere of Darkest Nightmare draws inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons and Bloodborne, but the gameplay is very different. In each level you walk ever forwards and encounter a variety of freaky monsters, you need to dispatch the monsters by tracing specific patterns on a hexagonal grid, with different patterns producing different elemental spells such as Fire, Water, Earth and Air. Different monsters will require different spells to defeat them so you have to be pretty quick to decide on a spell and cast them before the monsters reach you.
