Dead Cells is bringing its excellent roguelike metroidvania gameplay to mobile devices, with iOS owners able to sign up now for a chance to join in the Beta.
For those unaware, Dead Cells is a beautifully animated and very tough roguelike metroidvania that is widely regarded as one of the best games of last year. In the game you take control of an immortal prisoner who is trapped in an ever-changing procedurally generated island and is due to be executed for an unspecified crime.
The combat is similar to the Souls games, with you having to learn the behaviours of enemies to defeat them. As you progress you unlock power-ups, weapons, skins, abilities and currency, but if you die your head will crawl back to the start of the game, the island will regenerate and you’ll start all over again (though there are some permanent power-ups you can unlock too).
It’s a fantastic game and if the footage in the trailer is anything to go by then the mobile port will deliver a fully featured Dead Cells experience. Testers who are chosen will have to sign an NDA, and will also earn a code for the full game when it releases on iOS.
