Decline is a Game Boy Color horror game where a retiring police officer investigates murders that are linked to a mysterious Polybius arcade cabinet.
Created by BenJelter (creator of The Machine and Opossum Country) Decline is a narrative driven horror game for the Game Boy. In the game you take on the role of an elderly female police officer who is due to retire very soon. In fact you have the choice to enjoy an early retirement right at the start of the game, or you can look into a troubling case. A case that involves murders that are linked to a mysterious Polybius arcade machine.
Taking around 20 minutes to play through, it’s a great little horror game which manages to squeeze a surprising amount of detail from the constraints of the Game Boy’s hardware. The story is interesting (especially thanks to choice of protagonist), there are four endings to discover and there are some clever twists and graphical touches throughout. Highly recommended
