Beta sign ups are now live for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, Square Enix’s latest instalment of the Dissidia Final Fantasy series, that sees it’s roster of over 20 characters squaring off in gravity defying 3v3 combat on Playstation 4.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT blends arena combat with action RPG elements as Final Fantasy characters from the past thirty years of the franchise fighting each other. It builds on the gameplay of the previous instalments, with plenty of familiar summoning, acrobatics, flying through the air and spectacular special moves. This iteration will also feature 3v3 combat, with a players able to switch between direct control of each of their team while the other two characters are controlled by AI.
The roster of over 20 playable characters is divided into four combat classes – Vanguard, Assassin, Marksmen and Specialists. As in the main Final Fantasy series, the Vanguards are hard hitting tanks, Assassins are fast and agile, Marksmen use ranged attacks and the Specialists have unique battle skills. It’s set some time after the events of the previous two Dissidia titles and sees Materia, the Goddess of Protection going to war with Spiritus, the God of Destruction with a narrative that’s unveiled as the player makes part in fights.
It’s a great looking game, with plenty of OTT special moves and a nice selection of characters from across the whole Final Fantasy franchise. The 3v3 combat should also make for a much more tactical experience than previous titles, as you choose a team that compliments each other and switch between them all in the heat of the battle. The full game is due for release in 2018, but sign up now for a chance to kick some Final Fantasy ass early.
