Beta sign ups are now live for Distant Worlds 2, a pausable real-time 4X grand strategy game set in galaxies with up to two thousand star systems and tens of thousands of celestial bodies to explore.
A sequel to the critically acclaimed 2010 original, Distant Worlds 2 looks set to expand on its predecessor in every way imaginable. It features a brand new 64-bit game engine, a game editor that allows you to build your own galaxies, lots of customization options, and vast galaxies capable of holding two thousand solar systems.
You’ll be able to choose from seven playable factions and expand your empire through the stars. As you explore galaxies you’ll use diplomacy or force as you deal with other empires, space pirates, traders, monsters, black holes, asteroid fields and galactic storms. There are lots of ancient secrets awaiting discovery and interesting storylines as you seek to achieve your faction’s victory conditions.
