A prequel/demo to the upcoming full release of Don’t Be Afraid, Don’t Be Afraid: The First Toy puts you in the role of a young boy who has been kidnapped by a madman who is obsessed with dolls and mannequins. After escaping from a human-sized doll box that you’ve been trapped in, you need to find your way out of a cellar that’s home to a lot of freaky looking mannequins that seem to move on their own…
It takes around 20 minutes to play through Don’t Be Afraid: The First Toy and there is some pretty unsettling subject matter – particularly the depictions of some of the madman’s other prisoners and the fact that you are supposed to be a child in all this. The game has a very tense atmosphere and it is genuinely scary, with great use of audio, lighting and the ever shifting mannequins. A dark and disturbing horror adventure well worth delving into.
