Ember Strike is an addictive blend of Pokemon and Bejeweled-style tile swapping in which players build a team of minions and do battle in fast paced duels packed with vibrant visuals and skill based minigames.
At it’s core Ember Strike is a Bejeweled-style tile swapping game in which players must match lines of symbols to rack up points. It isn’t necessary the player who gets the most lines that will win though – completed lines charge up your minions special powers, with different symbols feeding different minions. once a minion has a fully charged special ability you can unleash it and a quick skill based minigame will take place in which you can (usually) select one of the rival minions to attack and try to hit it as hard as possible. Knock out all your opponents minions and you’ll earn some lovely loot, unlock new minions and earn XP to level up existing ones.
Playable in singleplayer or online multiplayer, it’s an addictive game packed with depth and variety. As well as the fun minion based special powers, the fact that it’s not turn based and both players do battle on the same board is a great piece of game design, making each match a fast paced free-for-all where players can steal moves from right under each others faces.
