End of Ember is a Binding of Isaac-inspired roguelite twisted twin-stick shooter that blends cute aesthetics with extreme gore as a girl attempts to fight her way out of Hell.
In End of Ember you follow the story of a young girl called Ember who dies at a party and is mistakenly hurled into Hell. She now needs to fight her way through the horror movie inspired procedurally generated dungeons, earn upgrades, battle bosses and find a way out.
End of Ember has an arsenal of outrageous weapons, including a signature chainsaw-gun. Combat depth comes from hundreds of upgradeable items and synergistic combinations, while collectible stickers and cursed power-ups provide progressive enhancement. The game’s custom gore engine ensures every encounter ends in satisfyingly visceral explosions of violence.
The End of Ember prototype features the intro section and one full level, complete with boss fight. There are some framerate issues now and again (forgivable as it’s a prototype), but aside from that it’s a blast, with satisfyingly gory combat, a nice variety of perks, an excellent soundtrack and lots of great horror movie easter eggs. Highly recommended.
