Exodus: Proxima Centauri is a snazzy looking digital adaption of the Exodus: Proxima Centauri table top game, which plans to bring its brand of epic 4X empire building and tactical space battles to PC, Mac, iOS and Android (though the Beta will be PC only).
Exodus: Proxima Centauri is set in distant future after a devastating nuclear war sees six factions seeking shelter in the Centauri system. After being given a helping hand by a superior alien civilization, the humans soon establish themselves and start doing what humans do best – trying to conquer each other.
The original tabletop game was released to high acclaim, thanks to its easily accessible, but deeply strategic grand scale combat. Of particular note is the way players can vote to bring in long term or short term laws that affect the way the game plays (such as reducing costs of research or disallowing building ships for one round).
The devs of Exodus: Proxima Centauri plan to not only recreate the gameplay of the tabletop game, but to expand on it – using its digital format to make it a much more immersive experience and also allow for asynchronous cross-platform multiplayer gameplay.
