Fortune’s Run is an immersive first person shooter set in a lore-rich industrial Sci-Fi universe where mankind consumes stars with giant Dyson Spheres.
Drawing inspiration from Deus Ex, E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy and Metal Gear Solid, Fortune’s Run is a retro styled Sci-Fi FPS in a decaying industrial world filled with violence, sexual exploitation and drug abuse. In the game you take on the role of an ex-con who completes contracts for clients while seeking vengeance against those who have wronged you.
The Fortune’s Run demo features a sizeable chunk of gameplay, with a vast labyrinthine level that’s filled with large environments that allow for multiple different approaches. You can run in guns blazing, but stealth is also often a good option and you also have a nifty samurai sword that can slice through enemies and deflect bullets.
At the moment there are a few issues, such as the slightly awkward controls (like not being able to map the weapon swapping to the mouse-wheel), some rather convoluted air-vent sections and the fact that you have to manually pick up ammo. Other than that though it’s a very promising game that delivers a great fusion of stealth, platforming and fast paced run ‘n gun gameplay. Just be sure to save often – death comes quick in Fortune’s Run!
