Freja and the False Prophecy is a stylish Norse mythology inspired 2D action adventure where a brave viking warrior sets out to save her son
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer back in 2018, Freja and the False Prophecy is a hand drawn 2D action adventure that follows the story of a skilled Viking warrior called Freja. Monsters are roaming the lands and killing her people and she needs to get back to her village to make sure her son is safe. To do so she’ll battle monsters, learn new skills and use her spirit form to solve puzzles and envision the past.
Unfortunately the devs have run out of funds to continue development of Freja and the False Prophecy. They’d like to come back to the game in the future, but that’s largely dependent on funding. Even as it stands though, the demo features a sizeable chunk of gameplay and tells the first chapter of Freja’s story. The artwork is beautiful, the combat is fun, the cutscenes and voice acting are superb, and the spirit form mechanics allow for inventive puzzle design Hopefully Freja will complete her journey some time in the future, but until then the demo offers an entertaining and touching little adventure.
