FTD: Fixin’ To Die – Game Jam Build

FTD: Fixin’ To Die is a fast paced surgery sim that sees you making tough decisions as you sacrifice a few to save the many in an under-equipped field hospital.

In FTD: Fixin’ To Die you control a lone doctor in a tiny filed hospital with just two beds, a couple of bonesaws, a sink and a waste disposal unit. During each round there’s a steady stream of casualties coming into the field hospital and you need to try and save as many of them as you possibly can.

To cure a casualty you have to place them on the bed then go at them with a bonesaw. The various casualties each have their own percentage chance of being cured, which drops the longer they have to stand while waiting for a bed (so you want to keep them waiting for as short a time as possible).

If a casualty has a very low chance of surgery success it may be best to sacrifice them in the waste disposal unit. This not only frees up a spare bed, but also gives you a blood pack that you can use to increase the chances of surgery success with another casualty. If all that wasn’t enough, then as you progress you’ll also have to deal with other issues like washing your hands and patient’s wounds bursting open while they lie on the bed awaiting treatment.

The RNG can be a little annoying at times, but it’s a fun little game with excellent pixel art animation and intense gameplay where you have to think fast, make sacrifices and optimize your actions to avoid wasting a single second. The guys in MASH had it easy compared to this!
