PC owners can now sign up to Beta test Ghostrunner – an adrenaline-fueled cyberpunk parkour action game where you use a monomolecular katana to slice your way through enemies.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer during the limited-time demo release, Ghostrunner is a stylish and uber-violent game that delivers a much more edgy (and more entertaining) take on Mirror’s Edge‘s style open world parkour. In the game you take on the role of an augmented human who is the most advanced blade fighter ever created. You use your superior mobility and weapon skill as you make your way through a dystopian megacity that’s governed by a tyrannical ruler who has no regard for human life. Humanity is being pushed to extinction but may be able to set things right before it’s too late.
The gameplay in Ghostrunner is fast, fluid and gloriously brutal. Your character is remarkably agile, able to chain together slides, wall-runs, jumps and attacks to devastating effect. You also have a very cool grappling hook ability and you can even slow down time while in the air and shift to the left or right to dodge incoming bullets. All of this allows you to get the drop on your enemies and get up close to deliver attacks that can literally slice them in half.
The full version of Ghostrunner is due for release later this year and it’s definitely one to keep an eye on. It looks gorgeous and plays like a (blood-splattered cyberpunk) dream. Sign up for the Beta to test out that monomolecular katana early!
