GladMort is a brand new Neo Geo game that draws inspiration from Ghouls ‘n Ghosts where an evil black knight sets out to rid the land of an even worse evil.
Coming to Neo Geo, Deamcast and PC (and others depending on the Kickstarter success), GladMort is a good old fashioned side scrolling action platformer inspired by Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Magician Lord. It takes place in a land where an evil red plague has infected the population and the Lord of Darkness has risen with an evil army of undead. As a last resort the king has summoned a black knight called GladMort, who is capable of wielding powerful ancestral weapons. He now sets forth to rid the land of the Lord of Darkness, his minions and the red plague.
The gameplay in GladMort is very much akin to Ghouls ‘n Ghosts. It features side scrolling levels, a selection of different weaponry, simple but challenging arcade combat and it even has a health system where you lose your armor and run around in your undies. The demo features one level, and even though it’s pretty short it impresses with its very high quality pixel art visuals, excellent soundtrack and classic GnG gameplay. It’s a blast from the past, but is also going to be one of the best looking games to ever be released on the Neo Geo.
