Gneiss: A Misshapen Journey – Student Game Download

Gneiss: A Misshapen Journey is an inventive puzzle platforming adventure where you control a little rock-man who has shattered his body, but can now shape his squishy core into lots of useful shapes!

Created by students at DADIU, Gneiss: A Misshapen Journey is a 3D puzzle platforming adventure that follows the journey of a weak little rock-man who is looking for acceptance. After being randomly chosen to ascend the staircase to Gargoyle Heaven the stairs collapse as you make your ascent and your body is shattered. You now need to use your sculptable squishy core to help you overcome obstacles and make your ascent.

Your default form in Gneiss: A Misshapen Journey is a little round ball that you can roll around the world, but you’ll often need to reshape your body to overcome obstacles. The sculpting is very freeform and allows you to easily grow your body in different directions. You can use this ability in lots of inventive ways throughout the game’s playtime, including forming a wheel that can roll at high speeds, a hook that can latch onto things and many other odd shapes that can help you climb over obstacles.

It’s a very clever concept and the mechanics of sculpting your squishy body work really well. Allowing you to shape your body any way you like allows for a less prescriptive approach to the puzzles (plus it’s a lot of fun seeing what shapes you can draw). A Great little body morphing adventure that proves it’s what’s inside that matters!
