Grow Golf is a novel little fusion of gardening and golf where you grow golf balls and ground in a crumbling plot of land.
Created for Ludum Dare 52, Grow Golf is a tricky little golf game where you attempt to survive for as long as possible in a plot of land that crumbles away when it dries out too much. You aim and hit your ball by dragging and releasing the mouse and to get it into the hole in a set amount of shots as in a traditional golf game. But what happens when your ball lands depends on what type of ball you use…
If you use a regular ball it will plant a golf ball seed when it lands. If you use a water ball then it waters the ground around it when it lands, making plants grow and preventing the ground from drying out. Later on you also unlock dirt balls which can replace lost chunks of ground. You need to balance the use of the three ball types to try and keep the ground as healthy as possible, preventing your balls from falling through any gaps.
It takes a few shots to get into the swing of things, but it’s an addictive little game that gets especially fun once you get a good crop of golf balls. A golfing game that will grow on you.
