Hash Rush is an interesting new Sci-Fi real time strategy game that allows players to earn cryptocurrency as they build a mining colony, defend it and complete quests.
In Hash Rush you’ll be able to choose between three different factions and set up a mining colony in the expansive Hermian Universe. You’ll mine resources, craft advanced resources, build and upgrade structures and trade with other players (PvP will also be added but won’t be in the Beta).
The three playable factions are the secretive Ernacks, the pirate-like Rick’s Ravagers and the graceful but corrupt Highborn of Eldaria – all of which have their own unique structures, bonuses and buffs. As you progress you’ll work towards completing single player objectives and faction goals.
How cryptocurrency fits into the game is a little confusing but the devs run a cryptocurrency mining farm and players compete for rewards from that. The players subscription will support and grow the mining farm, increasing payouts to players. The in-game currency is a token on the Ethereum blockchain, but players will actually be paid in crypto (most likely in Ethereum itself). There’s a FAQ that explains most of it here but rest assured the game doesn’t use your GPU to mine cryptocurrency in the background.
It’s easy to be sceptical about the cryptocurrency side of it, but the actual RTS gameplay in Hash Rush looks like it could be great fun. The characters are cute, the UI is intuitive and the little planetoids that you inhabit look delightful. A charming looking massively multiplayer real time strategy game that may earn you a little cash on the side.
