Hellpoint is a dark Sci-Fi action RPG with roguelike elements, that could best be described as Dark Souls meets Dead Space, with dynamic events that can have a dramatic effect on the enemies you meet and the structure of the game world.
We first featured Hellpoint on Alpha Beta Gamer two years ago during its successful Kickstarter campaign. Since then developer Cradle Games has found a publisher (tinyBuild) and are now gearing up for a release this Summer. It’s a third person dark Sci-Fi action RPG with a Dark Souls-esque stamin-based combat system which takes place during the aftermath of a quantum cataclysm that’s caused parallel universes to merge with themselves. This caused every living creature to lose their mind, while also attracting the unwanted attention of Cosmic Gods of immense power.
Playable in single-player and online or local co-op, Hellpoint takes place in the space station that was where the quantum cataclysm was unleashed. You’ll battle powerful enemies, mini-bosses and huge bosses, and as you progress you’ll level up your combat skills, acquire forbidden powers and craft powerful weapons and armor.
Due to the way the multiverse has folded into itself, the structure, enemies, puzzles and events in the space station are always changing, so no two playthroughs will ever be the same. The overall structure will be similar, but passages may appear where there was just a wall, enemy behaviours may dramatically change, a mini-boss may appear or a boss may be more powerful and agressive.
The old Kickstarter build of Hellpoint was already very impressive and the latest gameplay footage looks fantastic. Dark Souls in space is a very tempting prospect and the multidimensional randomness means that as you make your way through the monster-filled space station you’ll never know what to expect. Except pain, you can always expect plenty of pain!
