Helvetii is a stylish hand drawn 2D character-action adventure with roguelite elements, combo-filled combat and a game world that draws from Celtic and Gaulish Mythology.
Drawing inspiration from Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Odin Sphere and Devil May Cry, Helvetii is a character-action game where players will be able to choose from a trio of fighters and embark on an adventure that blends Celtic and Gallic mythology with the more modern legends of French, Swiss and Germanic folklore. It features beautiful hand drawn artwork and fast, flowing, combo-heavy combat against a variety of challenging enemies and bosses.
The current build of Helvetii features one playable character and allows you to battle your way through a procedurally generated world, made up of smaller stages where you have to kill enemies to move on (a little like Muramasa: The Demon Blade). The combat system is easy to pick up and play, but takes time to master and different enemies require different tactics to take them out.
It’s still early in development, but Helvetii already looks fantastic and the combat is very engaging. Fights are full of spectacle and big combos, whilst also remaining satisfyingly tactical (it’s no button-masher). Well worth checking out for a bit of hand drawn monster slaying fun.
