Hyper HD is a rage inducingly tough Mega Man inspired retro action platformer where you control a plucky little robot who must take down an evil robot army.
It’s the year 30XX and humanity has long since perished and been replaced by a robotic civilization. Unfortunately a malfunctioning robot has taken over your city and you must now defeat his eight powerful headroids and him to to restore the order.
The gameplay and level design in Hyper HD is fondly reminiscent of the classic 8-bit Mega Man games. It also has a similar difficulty level, with tricky enemy placement, few checkpoints and lots of insta-death opportunities that may cause many a rage quit (particularly those damn boxes).
Hyper HD’s retro action platforming gameplay won’t be for everyone, but if you like a bit of pain and punishment then there’s a lot to enjoy about the game. The retro 8-bit pixel art is great, the controls are responsive and your little robot is a little more agile than Mega Man. You’ll still need some real skill to beat it though!
