IKAO The Lost Souls is a charming but rage-inducingly tough platforming adventure in which you help a cute little furry creature escape the abyss of time.
In IKAO The Lost Souls you take on the role of Ikao, a cute little blue creature who finds herself trapped in the abyss of time, with no memory of who she is or how she got there. As you make your way through the world way you’ll unlock new skills and another playable character, and you’ll piece together fragments of your memories that materialize as visions across the games planned 100 levels.
IKAO The Lost Souls lulls you into a false sense of security with its first five minutes of gameplay, with its cutesy visuals, chilled out soundtrack and easy puzzle platforming gameplay. It’s quite a pleasant experience at first, but then the difficulty soon ramps up to controller smashing degrees of difficulty. That’s not always a bad thing (an easy platformer is a boring platformer), but it could do with a few more checkpoints as it can start to frustrate.
IKAO The Lost Souls is a very tough game that does frustrate, but also delights with it’s beautiful artwork, inventive level design and dreamlike atmosphere. Well worth checking out if you’re looking for a platformer with some real challenge.
