Kubrix is a quirky little game that plays like if Minecraft was a third person puzzle platforming adventure, as you shape the game world, help villagers and save your voxel based island colony.
In Kubrix you take control of a witch who has the ability to dig up blocks of land, store them in her inventory and build structures out of them (much like in Minecraft). You can also shrink and grow trees and animals, and unlock a few other handy skills as you make your way through the game.
Your objective is to restore the shards of a powerful cubic object called the Kubrix, which has shattered, sending pieces of it throughout the land and causing the land to start sinking into the ocean. Chatting to the inhabitants will point you in the right direction as you hunt for the Kubrix fragments and you’ll usually need to solve a puzzle, dig or build to find them.
Taking around 30 minutes to play through, it’s a fun little puzzle adventure that makes great use of its Minecraft-esque inventory and digging/building mechanics. There’s lots of fun stuff to discover and the inhabitants of the islands are particularly charming with their high pitch Chipmunk-esque voices!
