Kyle & Lucy: Wonderworld is a charming Sonic inspired platforming adventure that sees two cute little cats trying to find their way home after getting lost in a far-off realm.
Kyle & Lucy: Wonderland draws inspiration from Sonic CD, Sonic 3 and Knuckles and Sonic Pocket Adventure to deliver a delightful retro 2D platformer full of charm and fun level design. The movesets and momentum of the characters are particularly Sonic-esque, but as they’re cats they have a very nifty ability to dig their claws into walls and boost up them.
The level design feels Sonic like too, with large, multi-route stages, but the devs have decided to focus on exploration over speed-running, allowing for a more relaxing platforming experience that allows you to take your time and discover all the secrets. There’s lots to discover, but particular importance are the special orbs that you’ll need to find to unlock a gate in the hub world.
Kyle & Lucy: Wonderworld feels a lot like a Sonic fan game, but in a good way like Freedom Planet. It wears its inspiration on its sleeve, but has lots of fun ideas of its own, charming characters and some great level design. A fine feline platforming adventure well worth digging your claws into.
