Last Oasis is a massively multiplayer nomadic wind-punk survival game where you build and pilot massive wind-powered walking wooden land ships as you harvest resources, trade and fight, whilst journeying East to keep ahead of a scorching sun.
The post-apocalyptic survival gameplay of Last Oasis takes place after a cataclysmic event halted the Earth’s rotation. The majority of the world is now either scorching hot or icy cold, with only a narrow band of land between the two that can support any life. However this narrow band moves with the sun’s rotation, so you must continually migrate to keep up with it or risk being burned to death by the sun.
The remnants of humanity now live on nomadic walking machines and a giant walking city called Flotilla. To survive you’ll need to gather resources, build a Walker, learn new skills and cooperate or fight with other survivors. You can build temporary stationary bases, to protect you from danger, but your home is pretty much your Walker. The Walkers come in different shapes and sizes, from little horse-sized ones to giant walking villages, all of which can be customized to suit your needs.
Clashes between Walkers are like epic naval battles, with ramming, ballistas, catapults and other projectiles. Players can also use grappling hooks to help them board a rival’s Walker and then do battle in dynamic skill-based melee combat.
It’s a very original and innovative take on the massively multiplayer survival genre. The Walkers of Last Oasis are a marvel to see in motion and the nomadic nature of the game world is a great concept that means you can never get too comfortable in your surroundings. This game looks like so much fun, like steampunk meets LiF. Can’t wait to try it out.
