LOVE: A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories is an incredibly touching and cleverly crafted narrative driven puzzle game where an entire building becomes a giant time-bending puzzle box as you piece together the stories of the people who live there.
Part puzzle game, part diorama, LOVE is a beautiful narrative driven adventure set within a large apartment building. The entire building is bisected by a line, with one side showing the past and the other side showing the present. You can rotate your view of the apartment block and you can also rotate individual floors – making them pass through the past and the present as you do so. You use this (and the ability to select and move certain residents) to help discover their stories, of the past and the present.
The LOVE demo build only takes around 5-10 minutes to play through but it sure does leave a mark. The concept is very clever, the visuals are beautiful and the soundtrack is a delight. It’s the storytelling that’s most impressive though, delivering a powerful and touching story about real love that’s about as impactful as the first 10 minutes of Pixar’s Up. A game about love that you can tell is really made with love. Highly recommended.
