Marinette is a beautifully crafted RPG Maker horror adventure where a young girl ends up trapped in a spooky dollhouse filled with living dolls.
In Marinette you follow the adventure of a young girl called Marinette, whose father has recently died. Marinette is close to her older sister (Marion) but Marion and her mother have fallen out, so they don’t get to see each other very often. Now on the eve of Marinette’s 11th birthday Marion gives her a doll that she says will comfort her when she’s sad and scared. Which is handy, as Marinette will be feeling sad and scared quite often after she finds herself trapped in a dollhouse filled with living dolls…
The current build of Marinette takes a little over an hour to play through and really impresses with its intriguing narrative, beautiful artwork and great soundtrack. The dolls are a particular highlight, each with their own personality and well written dialoue, and although some of them may occasionally try to murder you, most of the time they’re actually very charming and helpful. A horror game with a lot of heart.
