MINDWAVE is a narrative-driven Sci-Fi adventure where you enter the minds of your opponents and defeat them by completing WarioWare style microgames.
In MINDWAVE you are a young (and rather grouchy) woman who has entered a competition within the Mindscape Tower – the headquarters of MINDSCAPE, the world’s most popular cognitive reality game. There are hundreds of other competitors and as they ascend the tower they battle each other in one-on-one duels within the MINDSCAPE game to see who progresses.
The gameplay in MINDWAVE features a mixture of visual novel-esque chatting to other players and WarioWare style microgames. The characters are all well written and fun to get to know, but the real fun comes when the microgames kick off.
The demo features a selection of tutorial microgames, one large microgame battle and an endless mode with some extra microgames. They’re a lot of fun and the presentation is excellent. The microgame battle against your opponent is particularly impressive as the animation and soundtrack are superb, and it has a clever way to make the later stages more difficult. It all makes for a fantastic take on the microgame genre that feels refreshing, vibrant and inventive. Highly recommended.
