Mr. Hopp’s Playhouse 2 is a freaky stealth horror adventure which sees the murderous stuffed bunny Mr Hopp make a return, and this time he’s brought some pals!
A prequel to the 2019 original, Mr. Hopp’s Playhouse 2 is a 2D stealth horror game about a young orphan girl named Esther, who comes into possession of a stuffed rabbit called Mr. Hopps. He’s no ordinary stuffed rabbit though and it’s not soon after Esther is given him that she starts seeing nightmarish visions and she’s stalked but a huge murder bunny. Worse still, her friends also were given a couple of stuffed toys and they don’t seem like they’ll behave either!
Mr. Hopp’s Playhouse 2 vastly expands on the original in terms of gameplay, narrative and polish. It’s fully voice acted, there are some nicely animated cutscenes and there’s more variety in the gameplay. You still have to avoid Mr. Hopp as he skulks around in the background, but you also have a lot more to deal with in the foreground this time and there are some clever new twists to keep you on your toes.
At the moment Mr. Hopp’s Playhouse 2 doesn’t feel quite as scary as the original, but the gameplay is more fun and the demo does only contain the first 15-20 minutes of the game (so there’s plenty of room for a lot more terror in the full game). The story is interesting, the voice acting is well done and the two new stuffed toys look set to shake things up a little. Also, it’s nice that Esther has a couple of friends with her, as it makes the game feel like a little less of a solitary experience. See how much fun you have with Mr. Hopp and his pals!
