Otto and the Ancient Worlds – Beta Demo

Otto and the Ancient Worlds is a challenging and funny 8-bit action platforming adventure that plays like a blend of Castlevania and Mega Man as you search for your missing archaeology partner in a mysterious cave system in Greece.

In Otto and the Ancient Worlds you take on the role of Otto, an Indiana Jones-esque archeologist who has gone in search of his partner who’s been missing for the past few weeks. You track down her last known location to the Diros Caves in Greece, which you soon find to be filled with traps, monsters from ancient mythology and Hephaestus (the god of fire, metalworking, stone masonry, forges and the art of sculpture) who keeps using big Dr Robotnik-esque contraptions to try and kill you.

It’s a tough game, particularly the boss fights, but you will meet the occasional character from history that will help you out – such as the skeleton of William Shakespeare who lends you his head. Otto and the Ancient Worlds is also a funny game at times, with some very witty dialogue and even the occasional bit of fourth wall breaking humor.

It’s a lighthearted and beautifully animated retro action platforming romp with tight controls, inventive level design and lots of challenging old school gameplay. Good luck defeating Hephaestus – you’ll need it!

Tip: Remember to use your slide while running away from the Trojan Donkey (it helps you move faster)
