Out-Class Hunter is a fast paced 3rd person action platforming adventure that follows an intergalactic bounty hunter who is tasked with hunting down a mercenary who has taken a research space station hostage.
In Out-Class Hunter you step into the shoes of Winona (a.k.a. H-14), a bounty hunter who is on a mission to apprehend a mercenary who has captured a space station called Olieribos. As you make your way through the space station you’ll explore levels in differently themed biomes, battle bosses and collect bounties.
Gameplay-wise Out-Class Hunter feels very much like the Sonic DOOM total conversion mod, Sonic Robo Blast 2. It blends 2D sprites with a 3D game world and allows for plenty of speed as you race through each level. Much like Sonic Robo Blast 2, it’s a lot of fun once you’ve learned the levels and can race through them, but it’s not very suited to precision platforming and you’ll die quite often if you try to race through levels on your first go.
It’s a fun game, but it could do with leaning into level design that focuses on speed rather than precision platforming. The vibrant visuals and sense of momentum are a real draw and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a Sonic fan.
