Past Cure is a dark psychological thriller with inventive puzzle design and an intriguing narrative that blurs the lines between dreams and reality.
In Past Cure you take on the role of a former elite soldier who was subjected to torture and experimentation that has left him suffering from visions and unrelenting nightmares, as well as the ability to use powers such as telekinesis and time manipulation. Driven in search of answers and revenge, he and his brother set out to hunt down the masterminds behind the experiments and make them pay for what they’ve done.
The current build of Past Cure takes around half an hour to complete and blends exploration, stealth and puzzle elements as you escape a prison cell and explore the facility you’re trapped in. The controls do feel a little clunky at times, but visually it’s very impressive, the monsters look cool, there’s a nice variety of puzzles throughout and the narrative is very intriguing. It’s perhaps not as scary as it would like to be, but it’s a promising start to a cerebral psychological thriller adventure well worth checking out.
