Prehistoric Kingdom is a management sim that allows you to build, populate and run your very own Jurassic Park style prehistoric themed zoo.
Zoos are fun but there’s only so many times you can watch a penguin slip and fall on the ice. Dr. Hammond had the right idea with Jurassic Park, but his security systems and management could do with a little work – maybe you could do better? Prehistoric Kingdom allows you to live out your dreams of building and running your very own prehistoric park. You can terraform the land to make each region unique, build a wide variety of structures and enclosures, populate it with dinosaurs and open it up to the public.
There are over fifty prehistoric animals in Prehistoric Kingdom, with a wide range of dinosaurs and extinct mammals such as sabertooth tigers and mammoths. Before you can add them to your park you’ll have to travel to different locations around the world and find and extract their DNA.
The prehistoric animals in Prehistoric Kingdom are more scientifically accurate than those you’re used to seeing in the movies. So dinos won’t just be big green and scaly – they can have colored markings, fur or feathers (as well as scales). In fact you can breed your animals to have different skin types, making more attractive exhibits for your park. Each animal’s behaviour and noises have also been realistically modelled and they all have smooth growth transitions from a juvenile to an adult, with their needs changing as they grow.
Prehistoric Kingdom will feature a campaign mode, scenarios and a sandbox mode, along with three different types of island to build on and a variety of natural disasters to deal with, such as tornadoes, earthquakes and monsoons. It’s a great looking game and even the early Pre-Alpha build that we covered back in 2017 was intuitive and fun to play around with. Sign up for the Alpha to get in early for some dino park building fun – just don’t hire a moron who looks like Newman from Seinfeld or build it on an island with an active volcano!.
