Project Nostalgia is a PS1 styled horror game that draws inspiration from 90s classics as a man finds himself trapped in a nightmares world that seems to be made from his memories.
Drawing inspiration from survival horror classics like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, as well as action games like Shadow Man and Metal Gear Solid, Project Nostalgia is a retro styled horror game that really nails the PS1 era aesthetic. You take control of a man who awakens in a nightmarish land that feels oddly familiar, and is guided/taunted by a mysterious voice.
The current build of Project Nostalgia is still very early in development so is more geared towards conveying the style and atmosphere the dev is going for rather than the gameplay or story. It takes around 10 minutes to play through and there are understandably some rough edges, but the narrative is very intriguing and it really impresses with its authentic PS1 era visuals, surprisingly detailed character animation and surreal dreamlike atmosphere. It feels a lot like a fusion of Silent Hill and Shadow Man and even in these early stages of development it’s a very promising slice of retro horror well worth keeping an eye on.
