Rhythm Hunter – Prototype Download

Rhythm Hunter features an innovative blend of rhythm action and on-rails shooter gameplay as you shoot monsters in time with the music to do maximum damage.

In you swoop around a city in a helicopter, armed with a big gun you can aim with the mouse, a little like the Sega arcade classic Gunblade. However, instead of taking out a small army of bad guys, each level in Rhythm Hunter sees you taking out a different massive mythological monster.

To do maximum damage you’ll have to make head-shots, but you also have to time your shots in-time with the music. Do well enough and you’ll charge up your ultimate meter, which allows you to activate a high powered auto-aiming mode where you fire by tapping the right keys on your keyboard as they travel towards you on a Guitar Hero-esque fretboard.

Considering how odd a concept it is, Rhythm Hunter’s monster-slaying on-rails rhythm-shooter gameplay is remarkably easy to pick up and play. Visually it’s a bit rough and there isn’t quite enough feedback for timing shots well (could do with more explosions/blood-splatter/etc.), but the core gameplay is solid and the UI works very well (particularly the rhythm action aiming reticule). An impressive start to a shooter that’ll test your rhythm as well as your reflexes.

Important Note: Before playing the game we highly recommend going into the options and changing the chord keys to ASDFG (or something similar) as the current set up is a little confusing.
